International Economic Development Committee

The International Investment and Trade Advisory Committee (IIT) is the primary business leadership committee that provides oversight, guidance and assistance for the Partnership’s international investment and trade initiatives. In conjunction with the Regional Economic Development Advisory Committee (REDAC), business leadership work collaboratively with Partnership staff as well as business experts in the working subcommittees of Headquarters, Life Science, Energy 2.0, Manufacturing and Logistics, Real Estate and Digital Tech Attraction to attract companies to Houston. In addition, IIT directly manages the Foreign Direct Investment and International Trade Committees of the Partnership. The Committee’s overarching mission is to provide guidance and support for all Partnership international economic development efforts.

 

The Committee is composed of senior business leaders throughout the greater Houston region who are appointed by the 2019 IIT Committee Chair, who is identified and approved by the 2019 Chair of the Greater Houston Partnership. The Committee members are comprised of decision makers within key companies located in the greater Houston area. These Committees work closely with the Partnership economic development staff.

  • Provide guidance and support for all Partnership international economic development efforts

  • This committee assists with inbound and outbound trade and investment missions by providing expertise, guidance, and support to the international community

  • Monitor strategies to increase trade and investment in the Houston region

Committees

The International Trade and Investment Advisory Committee directly manages the Foreign Direct Investment and International Trade Committees of the Partnership. Learn more about the objectives of these specific Committees below. The Committee’s specific oversight of initiatives involve business intelligence, business recruitment, retention and expansion, the startup ecosystem as well as marketing and outreach on a global basis.

Foreign Direct Investment

The Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) Committee works to develop strategies for attracting investment to the region and generating new FDI business opportunities. Committee members comprise foreign-owned companies invested in seeing international business thrive within the region.

International Trade Development

The International Trade Development Committee focuses on promoting the transfer of commercial export goods through established international trade programs, entrepreneurship seminars and trade missions. Committee members include port firms, trading, investment and export companies.
